Saint James United Church
You will find at the Church of Saint James an active congregation that is steeped in the tradition of Scottish Presbyterianism and is at the same time fully part of today's inclusive and diverse United Church of Canada.
The members of Saint James Church come from many different backgrounds and experience their spirituality in many different ways. Yet we enjoy coming together on Sunday mornings for a worship service that is mostly traditional, but in which our many different talents and interests find room for expression.
The impressive stained-glass windows in the Saint James Church sanctuary, our beautiful pipe-organ, and our excellent musical talent combine with biblical preaching and teaching for all ages. It prepares us each Sunday for an active weekday program.
At Saint James United Church we have Bible study and adult education groups, which are safe places to ask questions and provide a stimulating environment to develop spiritually. Our three choirs and three handbell choirs practise for participation in worship as well as for performances elsewhere. Active troops of Scouts, Explorers, Cubs, Messengers and Beavers meet every week under capable leadership. A weekly foodbank that helps between 50 and 100 families and individuals as part of Halifax and Nova Scotia's Metro Food Bank network involves many volunteers.
All our activities combine to help us grow as Christians, and to be both individually and together a positive influence in the world in which we live.
The Church of Saint James invites your interest and participation and welcomes your to our services and programs.
